Bass of the Week: Alpine Guitar Black Bison

Originally featured October 15, 2018

Julien Pluvinage wrote in to share the details of his new bass, and it’s a beauty. The Black Bison by Alpine Guitar is a take on the classic P-bass that is crafted in France using only local woods. This bass comes from Alpine’s custom shop Delachapelle series. Although Alpine is a newer company, their chief luthier is the very talented Matthieu Combe.

For the Black Bison, Alpine utilized French walnut for the body, neck, and fretboard. Its fretboard has a compound radius with 20 frets. The pickup is a Nordstrand NP4, while the hardware includes Hipshot tuners and a KTS titanium bridge.
