The Story
Bergfels Guitars is an Austrian company founded by builder Stefan Kirchner. They recently completed a custom bass for bassist John-Eric that at first glance seems fairly traditional, but further inspection reveals tons of modern features.
First of all, it’s a short-scale bass that has a multi-scale neck that runs from 30 inches to 31.25 inches. The mahogany body has a fine maple burl top while its maple neck has a ziricote fingerboard. The headstock, which is also capped with ziricote, also has a Hipshot D-Tuner mixed in with its Schaller M4 tuners. Tying body and fingerboard together, the noiseless custom pickups are housed in mahogany and ziricote covers.
