Bass of the Week: Ele Custom Basses Puntundo 5

Originally featured January 25, 2016

This week we’re checking out the Puntundo 5 by Spain’s Ele Custom Basses. This version of their El Puntundo bass was made for Fabio Lessa and features the headless version of the striking singlecut design.

One’s eye is led straight to the buckeye burl top, which is accentuated with matching pickup covers. The set-neck bass is also built with a mahogany body matched to a flame maple neck with padauk stringers. Its birdseye maple fingerboard includes a zero fret to account for the headless design and lack of a nut. Ele fitted the bass with a pair of alnico V jazz style pickups and a Bartolini preamp. Controls include an active/passive selector, balance, tone, treble, middle with selectable frequencies, and bass knobs.

There are hundreds more where this came from.
