Bass of the Week: Franz Bassguitars Wega 5 “Behind the Scene”

Franz Bassguitars Wega 5 Originally featured December 31, 2018

This week we’re checking out a Wega 5 from Franz Bassguitar’s Art Line dubbed the “Behind the Scene.” The bass is hand painted by artist Torsten Russ and finished with 18-carat gold leaf.

“Just like his almost insoluble picture stories, the title ‘Behind the Scene’ also lends a multilayered interpretation,” Franz writes. “The viewer is in demand. Quick recognition is not the focus of the award-winning painter.”

Russ’s canvas starts with the chambered and curved alder body. Its five-piece maple neck has oak stripes, carbon fiber reinforcement, and a maple fretboard. The art continues along the fretboard as markers all the way up to the headstock. Franz fitted the bass with Gotoh tuners, an ETS 3D bridge, Delano JSBC pickups, and a Bell Sound 2-band EQ.
