The Story
This week we’re looking at the Ikejima Four Fretless by Kriz Lenz. The first of the new “Ikejima” design series, the bass features simple materials used in a beautiful way.
“Inspired by a surf spot on Ikeijima island in Okinawa Japan, it features a unique single cutaway design with a wave shape and signature headstock. The body shape is handcrafted to give it its individual look & feel.”
Lenz built the bass with a two-piece swamp ash body, maple neck, and Blackwood fingerboard. The pickups are a pair of Aguilar 60’s Jazz models matched to Aguilar tone controls. Hardware includes Hipshot tuners and a Sandberg bridge. Lenz put the final touch on it with a natural and environmentally sustainable oil and wax finish.
