Luthier Bill Woger decided to make the jump to create his own business last year called Naked Bass and Guitar Company. His fourth bass ever built is the Hitchhiker 5-string, and it’s No Treble’s Bass of the Week.
The Hitchhiker is a neck-through design built around an awesome 9-piece multi-laminate neck consisting of maple, mahogany, and wenge. Its body wings are figured maple with a wenge veneer between the top and back. The fingerboard matches the body with figured maple with abalone dot inlays. Another nice attention to detail is the bass’s control cavity cover, which matches the body wood and is held on with small magnets to keep the back of the bass smooth.
Woger fitted the bass with a pair of EMG HZ pickups and a volume/volume/tone control layout. Other features include Gotoh tuners, a Schaller 496 bass bridge, a bone nut, and chrome hardware.
