Pete Skjold has been wowing bassists with his incredible instruments for nearly two decades. Last year he introduced a trio of new models based on his most popular body shapes, and this week we’re checking out the singlecut Drakkar bass.
“The Drakkar is the modern version of the classic Whaleback,” Skjold explains on his website. “A focus on ergonomics took front and center in the development of this model, curving out the back for a more elegant look. Refinements taking place over a twenty five year time span have allowed this bass to be possible today.”
Available in four, five, and six-string models, each Drakkar is built to order and comes with an array of options. Skjold offers body wood choices of Mahogany, Alder, and Obeche. Necks come with 33, 34, or 35-inch scales in maple, ash, or other exotic woods. Standard fretboards are maple, morado, or ebony. The pickups are Skjold single or dual coils matched to a Skjold/East preamp.
