The Story
We’ve featured a few Wahlbrink instruments before, and they’ve typically feature bodies with dramatic features. This week we’re checking out a custom bass they built that shows they can nail the traditional styles, too.
The Ray is a custom one-off built with a swamp ash body, a flamed maple top, and a quilted Canadian hard maple neck. Its transparent black finish is contrasted by a stunning piece of royal white ebony used for the fretboard as well as the pickup cover, which houses a Hausel MM pickup. Other features include a Noll TCM2 preamp, Schaller BM Light tuners, and Sounder hardware.
