Bass of the Week: Brooks EB-TB-IV

Originally featured January 8, 2024

Rob van den Broek of Brooks has shared another killer mashup design he calls the EB-TB-IV. Built for Swedish bassist Roger Hedin, the axe blends two vintage basses for a fresh instrument.

“It’s a hybrid of a sixties Thunderbird IV and an LP Jr DC-shaped EB-0,” the builder explains.

The Brooks EB-TB-IV is crafted with neck-through construction featuring mahogany body wings and a nine-ply mahogany and walnut neck. Its rosewood fingerboard is fitted with 21 jumbo frets and dot inlays.

Other features include Thunderbird-style pickups, a wide-travel Thunderbird bridge and tailstop, and Hipshot Ultralite tuners. The bass weighs in at 7.7 pounds.
