Bass of the Week: Meridian Guitars Jazz Evolution Carbon

Originally featured August 29, 2016

Since its introduction in 1960, there have been many bass models inspired by the Fender Jazz. This week we’re checking out an exceptional Italian riff on the classic with the Meridian Guitars Jazz Evolution Carbon.

The bass features an ash body with a charcoal burst color and polyurethane satin finish. Its neck is made from maple that was harvested 30 years ago and left to age. The fretboard, on the other hand, is a phenolic resin fitted with 21 frets.

For electronics, Meridian opted for Delano pickups with their own Trinity 3-band preamp. A chrome cover over the neck pickup gives an extra taste of vintage goodness. The Evolution is rounded out with Hipshot hardware finished in black to accentuate the smoky aesthetic.

There are hundreds more where this came from.
