Bass of the Week: LedBelli Bass Guitars Jonah #015

Originally featured December 29, 2014

I love checking out new basses that set themselves apart from the pack, and the LedBelli Jonah does just that. The fretless, single-cut, semi-hollow bass is a real eye catcher. The company just shared pictures of the recently completed Jonah #015, which features a stunning book-matched California Redwood burl theme.

The bass’s body is semi-hollow and chambered with f-holes. Its front and back are redwood burl covering an ash body core. The five-piece neck is made from hard curly maple and purpleheart, which is then topped with an African ebony fingerboard that reaches two full octaves. Its bridge matches the fingerboard, while the headstock, controls, and control cavity cover all match the redwood burl.

Electronics include a Nordstrand 5B-MM humbucking pickup matched to a Nordstrand 2B-MM 2-band preamp. LedBelli basses are handmade in Pasco, Washington.
