The company specializes in using amazing reclaimed and salvaged wood. From a historic arts school to a furniture factory, this SWB-1 Custom Offset Fretless Bass has its own amazing story to tell, but we\u2019ll let Storywood\u2019s Tyler Townsend help. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe core body is 120-year-old heart pine reclaimed from the Duke Ellington School of the Arts in Washington DC,\u201d he says. \u201cIt is topped with a book-matched figured claro walnut top salvaged from walnut orchards in California. When nut trees eventually stop producing, they are no longer scrapped and are now salvaged into lumber, some of which is beautifully figured like this piece. The carbon-reinforced neck is reclaimed old growth mahogany taken from the Vaughan Furniture factory in Galax, Virginia, and documented on an episode of the DIY network show \u2018Salvage Dawgs.\u2019 The fingerboard is water-reclaimed kane wood from Africa with a beautiful grain pattern.
