His latest build is a version of his Weaves model made as a signature bass for <strong>Frode Berg<\/strong>. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur goal was a blend between acoustic and electric bass. Frode plays both electric bass as well as double bass; so his dream was having a compact model with the feels and nuances of an acoustic instrument,\u201d luthier Matias Catue\u00f1o explains. <\/p>\n<p>The bass has a heavily chambered mahogany body with a thick flamed eucalyptus top. Its five-piece maple neck is fitted with a wenge fretboard and continues the eucalyptus theme in its inlays. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou\u2019ll notice there are no knobs in sight,\u201d Catue\u00f1o continues. \u201cHe specifically wanted a minimalistic design where the sound had to come from the fingers\u2026if the sound wasn\u2019t what he wanted, he needed to change his way of playing, not the EQ.
