To prove his point, he shared this eight-string bass that the luthier just completed. <\/p>\n<p>It features a short 30-inch scale and is built with a one-piece figured maple body matched to a quartersawn wenge and maple neck. The quartersawn rosewood fingerboard is fitted with 22 Jescar frets. <\/p>\n<p>Other features include Gotoh Resolite tuners for the bass strings, Gotoh guitar tuners for the octaves, and a Schaller bridge. The pickup is a TV Jones Thunder Blade wired passive with 500k volume and tone controls, plus a Pure Tone input jack. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe bass has a big body sound with a tight &amp; clear attack &amp; chime from the Thunder Blade,\u201d Hayes writes. \u201cMassive in tones while on the petite side. It weighs in at just over 8 pounds and has a huge, edgy sound that\u2019s clear and focused.
