Adam Clayton<\/strong> is a bassist with style. He\u2019s an avid collector of fine watches, and now he has just the instrument to match. H. Moser & Cie teamed up with Wild Customs to gift the U2 bassist with a gorgeous custom bass that brings his passions together. <\/p>\n

\u201cA founder member of U2 who writes about contemporary art for British GQ, Adam Clayton combines musical virtuosity with a refined rock elegance. A devotee of fine watchmaking, he is a friend of H. Moser & Cie., whose fum\u00e9 dials are a particular pleasure of his,\u201d Wild Customs writes. \u201cFinished in the magnificent Funky Blue seen on H. Moser & Cie. fum\u00e9 dials, this unique instrument features multiple references to the pared-down and elegant style of the Schaffhausen-based Manufacture.\u201d<\/p>\n

Wild Customs built the bass with an alder body, maple neck, and pau ferro fingerboard. It\u2019s fitted with a custom handwound precision bass pickup with blades and pole pieces as well as a Hipshot bridge and Schaller tuners. The hardware also reflects the art of watchmaking. \u201cIn a nod to the open sapphire case-backs that reveal the movement, the Schaller open gears are visible through elegant transparent glass,\u201d the bass builders explain. \u201cThe knobs are finely engraved with the \u201cM\u201d found on the crown of H. Moser & Cie. watches. At the base of the neck sits a plate engraved with the H. Moser company hallmark, giving the instrument its signature. The electronic accessories feature a brushed finish and are recessed in an understated, elegant cavity whose unusual shape recalls those of H. Moser & Cie. cases.\u201d<\/p>\n
