This week we\u2019re checking out another gorgeous bass from Alpher Instruments. This Mako Elite Thinline 5-String immediately caught my attention on Facebook for its incredible purple \u201ccrazy burl\u201d top and slick shape. <\/p>\n

The 34-inch scale bass is built with a book matched, flamed maple body matched to an Indian rosewood neck and African blackwood fingerboard. For electronics, Alpher fitted it with a pair of Nordstrand dual coil pickups with a 2-band preamp as well as two Dingwall four-way rotary coil selector switches. <\/p>\n

\u201cThe bass was built for our good friend and bass dealer Pierre from Bass Freaks SPRL in Brussels,\u201d Alpher\u2019s Chris Dobson tells us. \u201cHe likes to let us do our own thing and gives us full creative freedom (which I love). It has a very unique tone which is apparently going down very well with customers and in session \/ live situations.\u201d<\/p>\n
