This week we\u2019re checking out the Enfield Guitars Lionheart English Rose, a rosewood-themed bass with tons of tonal flexibility. The UK-made bass takes the company\u2019s Lionheart design and upgrades it with a solid rosewood neck and fingerboard for feel as well as tone.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s no denying the natural feel of solid rosewood. It really is so inspiring to handle,\u201d company owner Martin Sims writes. \u201cThat\u2019s why we only lacquer the headstock and the heel of our English Rose necks. The rosewood also gives an extremely solid structure to the string response, creating a fundamental tone that is strong with a powerful midrange.\u201d<\/p>\n

The English Rose neck is accented by nickel silver frets, Enfield string trees, Hipshot tuners, white pearl dot markers, and a gold mounted red ruby on the headstock. Its body can be ordered with different configurations, but we\u2019re drawn to this mahogany body surrounded by two elegant pieces of rosewood that finish out the motif.<\/p>\n

Another jaw-dropping aspect of the Lionheart is its pickups. The Sims Super-Quad pickup system (also created by Martin Sims) contains two pickups with multiple coils inside each enclosure with a switching system and colored LEDs to display which coils you\u2019re using.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen connected to our totally unique \u201cTRI-LOGIC\u201d switching system you are ready to select a multitude of tones straight from the pickups themselves enabling you to switch between split coil (red), single coil (green) and hum-cancelling (blue) with just the simple flick of a switch,\u201d the website explains.<\/p>\n
