Today we\u2019re checking out another iconic bass with the Gibson SG Standard. Originally introduced in the 1961 as the EB3, the current incarnation of the bass carries many of the same attributes including the instantly recognizable body shape.<\/p>\n

\"Gibson<\/p>\n

Nowadays, the SG Standard is built as a dual pickup model with a vintage-style TB Plus humbucker in the neck position and a TB mini humbucker in the bridge position. \u201cThe pickups in today\u2019s SG Standard Bass\u2014the vintage-style TB Plus humbucker and TB mini humbucker\u2014are wax-potted and capture and recreate the classic attributes of those early Gibson basses,\u201d the company writes. \u201cThe TB plus humbucker in the neck is a traditional hum-canceling bass pickup with a full frequency, heavy-bottom sound, similar to pickups with a passive EQ. The TB mini humbucker in the bridge is traditionally smaller but packs a sweet punch with exceptional mid-range presence.\u201d<\/p>\n

The SG Standard features set neck construction with a mahogany body and neck as well as a baked maple fingerboard. All of the classic elements are there with trapezoid inlays and a Cherry finish.<\/p>\n
